If you’ve ever looked around your home and thought, “Where do I even begin?” this post is for you. ADHD homes carry emotional weight, and not every space feels the same. In this blog, I’m sharing how I decide which area to reset first, why starting with the most cluttered spot doesn’t always help, and how one small shift in the right space can make everything else feel easier.




In this episode, I’m sharing how to identify the ADHD anchor spaces in your home, why not all clutter carries the same weight, and how to start where relief will be felt the fastest, not where things look the messiest.


When a Reset Isn’t Enough

If your home feels harder to manage lately (even though you’re trying), you’re not alone. ADHD homes naturally drift out of sync over time and sometimes, a space starts asking for more than just a surface-level tidy.


That might look like:

  • Avoiding the space entirely

  • Resetting it over and over

  • Feeling emotionally drained every time you walk in


That’s not a motivation issue... it’s a clue that the space isn’t supporting your current season.


Why Some Spaces Feel Heavier Than Others

Here’s a mindset shift that might change how you view your home:


Not all mess is created equal.


Some rooms carry more emotional or mental weight than others. It’s not always about how cluttered they look... it’s about how they feel when you’re in them.


If you walk into a space and instantly feel overwhelmed, distracted, or shut down… that’s your nervous system asking for support. Especially if you’re navigating ADHD, anxiety, or burnout, certain spaces can drain your energy fast.


That’s why I encourage clients to start where relief will be felt the fastest not where things look the worst.


How I Decide Where to Start

Here’s how I figure out which space to reset... both in my own home and when I’m coaching someone else.


Ask yourself:

What space do I avoid the most?

You shut the door.

You walk past quickly.

You tell yourself you’ll deal with it “later.”


That avoidance is a clue.


What space is costing me time and energy every day?

Are you constantly losing things in this space?

Feeling frustrated the moment you walk in?

Having to re-buy things you know you own?


Those are signs the system isn’t working for you anymore.


If this space felt easier… what would actually change?

Would mornings feel less chaotic?

Would you move slower, feel calmer, or be less irritable?


That space... the one that affects your energy, focus, or mood the most is what I call your anchor space.


✨ When that anchor space is functional, everything else becomes easier.


What This Looks Like in My Home

For me, my anchor spaces are the kitchen and drop zone area.


When that space is messy, I feel it instantly: I’m rushed, reactive, and already tired before my day begins.


But when it’s working?

I move slower.

I don’t yell.

The kids know where their stuff is.

And I have more mental energy for everything else.


That’s why I reset this space first not because the rest of the house is perfect, but because that one change creates momentum.


Your anchor space might be your office, closet, entryway, or even a bathroom. It’s the space that quietly shapes how you feel in your home.


When a Reset Isn’t Enough

Sometimes, a quick reset brings relief. But if the same space keeps falling apart again and again, it may be asking for more support.


That usually means:

  • The setup no longer matches how you’re using the space

  • The system has too many steps or decisions

  • Or it’s carrying emotional weight that’s harder to untangle alone


This happens a lot with paper piles, closets, and storage spaces that hold years of life stuff.


That’s when support makes the difference.
